St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.

New vice principals have been appointed at the college

Dr Krishnakumar P S, HoD of Chemistry and Dr Vijayakumar Moleyar,HoD of Kannada have been appointed Vice Principals at St Philomena College Puttur.  Dr Krishnakumar P S having 37 years of teaching experience is an alumnus of the College and holds a Doctoral Degree from Mangalore University in Chemical Kinetics. Dr Vijayakumar Moleyar,also an alumnus of the College  has 30 years of teaching experience , earned his M.A. degree from University of Madras , M.Phil and Ph.D  from Hampi Kannada university. The correspondent Very Rev. Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas, Principal Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro ,Campus Director Rev. Fr Stany Pinto and faculty members congratulated the newly appointed Vice Principals.
