St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

Career Guidance and Placement Cell and Internal Quality Assurance Cell of St Philomena College jointly organized a Campus Recruitment programme at PG Seminar Hall recently. The programme was organized by OPTUM, a USA based Multinational Health Care and Insurance Company for the post of Medical Coders. Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Principal of the College presided over the programme and in his presidential remarks said, “The Campus Recruitment drives make one know the strengths and weaknesses of the self. Knowledge acquired has to be communicated properly. One should give his best to the organization which hires him”.
A written test was conducted after the inaugural programme. Clement Joel Sequeira, Head Talent Acquisition Team and Sudipro Kumar Das, Head, Medical Coding Department of OPTUM Company conducted the formalities with regard to the Recruitment. More than 100 graduate and post graduate candidates participated in the Campus Recruitment Drive.
Dr Radhkrishna Gowda, Convener of Career Guidance and Placement Cell welcomed. Lt. Johnson David Sequeira proposed vote of thanks. Geethapoornima, Asst Professor, Department of Computer Science compered the programme .
