Optum Campus Recruitment Drive

Optum, a globally reputed healthcare services company, conducted a Campus Recruitment Drive at St Philomena College, (Autonomous)Puttur under the auspices of the Placement Cell of the College for the post of Medical Coders. at the postgraduate seminar hall.

Continuing its recruitment association with the college since 2023, this marks the second campus hiring session by Optum during the current academic year. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from final-year undergraduate students who had recently completed their university examinations, underlining the timeliness and relevance of the initiative.

Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Principal of the College, expressed satisfaction at the sustained collaboration with Optum. “It is heartening to see students who have just completed their final exams actively participating in this recruitment process. The selected candidates will undergo a mandatory six-week training program conducted by the company, hosted here on campus,” he announced.

The recruitment process was led by Mr Clement Joel Sequeira, an alumnus of St Philomena College and currently serving as the Head of Talent Hunt at Optum. He addressed the candidates, offering insights into the nature of the company, the domain of medical coding, and the essential qualifications required for employment. Emphasizing the increasing career prospects in the field of medical coding, he motivated graduates to explore this emerging healthcare service avenue.

Dr. Geetha Poornima K., Placement Officer, welcomed the gathering, Mr Abhishek Suvarna, Assistant Controller of Examinations and Co-Placement Officer, proposed the vote of thanks. The program was compered by Ms Pooja Shree V. Rai, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics.

Dr Vinayachandra, Controller of Examinations, and Dr. Radhakrishna Gowda, Dean &Head of the Department of Business Administration, were present to lend their support to the proceedings.

The recruitment process saw active participation not only from the graduating students of St Philomena College but also from several job aspirants from the surrounding areas of Puttur. Mr Warren D’Costa, a recruitment expert from Optum, led the interview and selection process.
