St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.

Orientation program for the youth red cross volunteers.

Youth Red Cross , St Philomena College(Autonomous) Puttur organized an orientation program and quiz competition for the youth red cross volunteers. The Vice Principal Dr Vijay Kumar Moleyar in his presidential remarks pointed out that students should not only focus on academic excellence but also dedicate time to help those in need, whether through local charities, community events, or environmental initiatives and share expertise and guide others in achieving their goals.He further said that students should use their  voice to raise awareness about important issues, challenge injustices, and promote equality.

The orientation gained even more depth with the resource person Mrs Sushma Crasta, Assistant Professor in the Department of English .Her knowledge enriched the understanding of  Youth Red Cross .She also shed light on the origin, objectives and activities of Youth Red Cross. Ashfiya read out the list of  interns  and were rewarded. A quiz competittion was conducted by Rumaiz and Jowher .Youth Red Cross Convener Dr Dimple Jennifer Fernandes was present on stage.The program commenced with a prayer performed by Avani and team . Muqshith extended a warm welcome. Roshan thanked. Muzamil compered.
