St Philomena College(Autonomous) was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

The Orientation Programme for Post graduation Students, Centre for PG Studies & Research, St Philomena College with the association of Student welfare committee held on 08-06-2022 at Diamond Jubilee Hall, St Philomena High School, Puttur.
The Very Rev. Fr. Jerome Lawrence Mascarenhas, Correspondent of the College, was the president of the function. The Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Principal of the College was present in the occasion. The Orientation program was started at 10:00 am with the prayer sung by First year Computer Science Students. Ms. Suraksha, Faculty Department of Computer Science was the master of ceremony of the entire orientation program. Ms. Prithvi, Faculty Department of Commerce, welcomed the guests, Faculty members and students.
In his speech, Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro mentioned making the general public aware of civilization. He said the students should focus mainly on their attitude, personality and language. They should be able to incorporate mental, physical and spiritual perspectives meaningfully. Also, he congratulates all the rank holders in the university examinations and those who have cleared competitive exams such as NET, GATE and KSET. The principal has encouraged the faculty members to support the institution immensely.
Rev. Fr. Jerome Lawrence Mascarenhas said students should become ideal citizens in society. He gave valuable input to the students about happiness and self-satisfaction and noted that students should present the importance of humanity. Also, he mentioned that human character should not depend on money and selfishness.
At last, Ms Srimani thanked the Principal, correspondent, faculty members and students.
