St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.

ProjectVerse 2026

ProjectVerse 2026, a student software project and innovation showcase organised by the Postgraduate Department of Computer Applications and Techfinity Tech Club of St Philomena College, Puttur, was formally inaugurated by the Principal, Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro.

Speaking after inaugurating the programme, Dr. Monteiro said innovation and entrepreneurship had become important pillars of success in the contemporary world. As technology continued to open up new avenues every day, students should cultivate a willingness to learn and adapt to emerging technologies, he said.

“Artificial intelligence, digital technology and software development are advancing rapidly across the world. Students must not merely adapt to these changes but also develop the ability to create something new. However advanced technology may become, we should never forget our roots, culture and human values. Knowledge provides skills, but values shape character. Along with becoming competent technology professionals, it is equally important to become good human beings,” he said.

The programme began with a prayer by first-year MCA student Rakshitha K.R. and her team. Dean of the Postgraduate Department of Computer Applications, Dr. Vinayachandra, delivered the welcome address and introductory remarks. Akshatha B., Director of the Techfinity Tech Club, proposed a vote of thanks. Assistant Professor of the Postgraduate Department of Computer Applications Neelam Kuttappa compered the programme.

 Assistant Professor Shodhan P.G. of the Postgraduate Department of Computer Applications and first-year MCA student Venugopal extended their support in organising the programme.

 The event featured the exhibition of a range of software projects, websites, mobile applications and innovative technological solutions developed by second-year MCA students. The projects were showcased in the presence of the Principal, faculty members and students.

 First-year MCA students, final-year BCA and BCA (AI & ML) students, and first- and second-year B.Sc. Data Science students participated in the programme.
