St Philomena College(Autonomous) was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

The Postgraduate Studies and Research Centre of St Philomena College, Puttur, in collaboration with the Gram Panchayat, Ariadka, organized a “Science Wonder” program at D.K.G.P. Model Advanced Government Primary School, Kavu, on Wednesday this week.
The event was presided over by Mr Hemanath Shetty, Correspondent of Shri Ramakrishna High School, Puttur, who also has adopted D.K.G.P. Model Advanced Government Primary School, Kavu. Esteemed guests included Mr K. K. Ibrahim Haji, Treasurer of Lion Club Puttur, Mrs Prathima, Head Mistress of D.K.G.P. Model Upgraded Government Primary School, Kavu, Pratibha K , Asst professor from the PG Department of Social Work, and Sujith, Asst Professor from the Post Graduate Department of Physics, St Philomena College, Puttur.
In his address, Mr Hemanath Shetty encouraged the school students to take full advantage of the science model exhibition prepared by the postgraduate physics department students. He praised the organization of such programs, highlighting their importance in fostering a scientific mindset among students. Smt. Prathima and Shri Ibrahim Haji also lauded the program, organization and its benefits.
The event began with a prayer by the school students. Pratibha K. welcomed the gathering, while Nakul extended vote of thanks. The program was compered by Jayashree. The Physics department students executed the “Science Wonder” program with various engaging activities. The Social work department students, faculty, school students, teachers, and staff participated enthusiastically, making the event a grand success.
