St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

Puttur: Felicitations to achievers who won prizes and medals in various competitions held at different Colleges and University and brought laurels to the College was held at the General Assembly in the College. Rev Dr Antony Prakash Montiero, the Principal of the College, presided the program. Enumerating the importance of discipline, dedication, and hard work to achieve success, he complimented the achievers and wished that their achievements will provide inspiration to other students to showcase their talents.
In the program, the group of students who won the Trophy in TULUNADA AISIRI - the Cultural competition held at Shree Mahishamardini Temple, Matanthabettu, were felicitated. JUD Krithi of I B.Sc, who represented Karnataka and Goa Directorate by participating in All India TAL SAINIK CAMP held at New Delhi, winners of Taluk Dasara Athletic Meet Kabaddi Championship, Shabareesh Rai of I B Com who won II Place in CUMITE and III Place in KATA at State Level Karate Meet, Srujan of I BBA, who won Bronze Medal in Taluk Level 100 meter Hurdles and Bronze Medal in District Level competitions, Ranger Hithashree of III B.A. who won I Place in District Level Geethagaayana Competition organized by BHARATH SCOUTS and GUIDES, KARNATAKA were felicitated.
Newly appointed Vice Principals Prof Ganesh Bhat K and Dr A P Radhakrishna were present on the occasion and participated in felicitation.
