St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

Yashwin, a student of St Philomena College, secured a silver medal in the high jump competition at the state-level athletic championship held in Udupi Ajjarakadu. His outstanding performance has earned him a place in the national-level competition.
The national-level event will be held in Panchkula, Chhattisgarh, where Yashwin (BCOM) will represent the college and State. Yashwin had previously been selected for the national-level competition during his time in Pre-University College, showcasing his consistent excellence in athletics.
In addition to Yashwin’s achievement, Varsha (BCA), another student from St Philomena College, won a bronze medal in the hammer throw competition at the same tournament.
