Students of Yaksha Kala Kendra performed on the Akashvani Mangaluru Yuva Vani program.

Students from the Yaksha Kala Kendra, the Indian Classical Arts Study Center of St Philomena College, recently participated in Akashvani Mangaluru special Yuva Vani program. The college Yaksha Kala Kendra has been instrumental in promoting the study and presentation of Indian culture and arts through various initiatives.

During the program, Sridevi Kaniyoor, a second-year B.Sc. student, delivered an insightful lecture on the art and culture of Karnataka, showcasing the rich heritage of our State. Additionally, a captivating Yaksha Sanvada performance titled “Poothu Mazhare Karna” was presented by Surabhi Bhat Choontharu from the second-year BCA class, along with Srujana A, second-year B.Sc. student Sridevi Kaniyoor, and Pavan Raj.

Prashanth Rai, Director of the Yaksha Kala Kendra, following the vision of the college Principal, Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro guided the students. The students also received direction and support from Devu Hanehalli of Mangaluru Akashavani, ensuring a remarkable showcase of the talents.

The Yaksha Kala Kendra continues to be a beacon of Indian classical arts at St Philomena College, empowering students to excel in cultural expressions while honouring their rich traditions.
