Talent's day celebration at college

The Students’ Union and Cultural Association of St Philomena College (Autonomous) jointly organized a vibrant Talents Day celebration on Thursday at the Silver Jubilee Hall of the college, providing a dynamic platform for students to showcase their diverse artistic abilities.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation, with as many as 41 teams presenting an impressive array of performances. The programme served as a celebration of creativity and cultural expression, highlighting the multifaceted talents of the student community.

The event was formally inaugurated by the Principal, Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, who, in his inaugural address, emphasized the importance of co-curricular and extracurricular activities alongside academic pursuits. He noted that such engagements significantly contribute to students’ mental resilience and holistic development. Encouraging students to cultivate constructive hobbies, he urged them to utilize every available platform to gain recognition through their talents.

Also present on the dais were Vice Principal Dr Vijay Kumar Moliyar,Academic Dean Dr Norbert Mascarenhas; Controller of Examinations Dr Vinaya Chandra; Student Welfare Officers Dr Radhakrishna Gowda and Sperl Fiona Pereira.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome by Students’ Union President Muzammil, while Secretary Yusuf Alfaz delivered the vote of thanks. Joint Secretary Hiba Sheikh compered the event with poise and professionalism.

The Talents Day featured a rich and diverse cultural repertoire, including Bharatanatyam, Yakshagana, Kathak, various folk dances, and Western dance performances. The stage came alive with vibrant costumes, rhythmic movements, and enthusiastic applause, reflecting the cultural diversity and artistic excellence of the participants.

The celebration not only highlighted individual and team performances but also reinforced the institution’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals by encouraging active participation in cultural and creative endeavours alongside academic excellence.
