The two-day UGC sponsored National Seminar on ‘Radiation and Environment’ organized by the Department of Physics, St. Philomena College, Puttur on 5th and 6th February, 2015 at Silver Jubilee Hall, St. Philomena College, Puttur.

The seminar proved to be the meeting ground for the Research Scholars, Lecturers and students of Physics. It was an effective platform to share their knowledge and ideas.

During the valedictory ceremony the Chief Guest of the function, Prof. Shiva Rao, Head of the Department of Physics, SDM College, Ujire and President of Association of Physics Teachers,. Mangalore University (APTMU) speaking about APTMU said,” It is an association which brings all the physics teachers under same umbrella where they can prepare the course plan, review and update the syllabus, organize educative programmes and also solve academic problems.”

Congratulating the organizers of the seminar, he said, “This is a forum where physics fraternity can interact and share their ideas.” He concluded with the inspiring words for the students, “Nothing is difficult, if you make up your mind anything can be done successfully.

Prof. Leo Noronha, Principal of the college in his presidential address quoting Albert Einstein said, “’ Curiosity is more important than knowledge because curiosity leads to learn more. If science has to grow, the younger generation who are the future of the country should take up the challenge.”

Pro. Vandana, Asst. Professor, Department of Physics welcomed the gathering. Dr. A. P Radhakrishna, Convener and the HOD, Department of Physics proposed the vote of thanks.
