St Philomena College(Autonomous) was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

Chief Guest of the program Mrs Suchitra, President of SDMC, (School Development and Management Committee) DKZP Government Higher Primary School Parladka, Puttur planted the fruit sapling and said, the main purpose of tree plantation is to save the endangered environment and to beautify the nature we live in. Trees are valuable gifts of nature. They are known as the best friends of human beings. They benefit us in various ways. The lives of human beings, other living beings like animals and insects are inconceivable without the existence of trees in the world. She praised the efforts taken by NCC for the noble cause of environmental protection.
The Vice President of SDMC, DKZP Government Higher Primary School Parladka, Puttur Mr Udaya, School Treachers of DKZP Government Higher Primary School Parladka, Puttur Mrs Yashoda and Mrs Sundari, First officer Naresh Lobo, Second Officer Roshan Sequeira of St Philomena High School Puttur were present during the program.
Lt Johnson David Sequeira NCC Officer of the college welcomed. Second officer Clement Pinto of proposed vote of thanks. College Naval NCC Officer C/T Thejaswi Bhat compered the program.
25 Fruit saplings and other medicinal plants were planted around the school premises on the occasion of Vanamahothsava. 5 ANOs, 45 NCC Cadets, teachers, SDMC Members and School Children participated in the program.
