St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

The Department of Commerce in association with theInstitution’s Innovation Council (IIC) at St Philomena College, Puttur, organized an insightful session on the Business Model Canvas on April 28, 2025. The event aimed to equip students with practical knowledge of entrepreneurial planning and strategic business structuring.
The session was inaugurated by the Principal, Rev. Dr. Antony Prakash Monteiro,who emphasized the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship in today’s dynamic business world. In his address, he encouraged students to make the most of such platforms to bridge academic learning with real-world applications. The resource person for the event, Mr Prashanth Rai,assistant professor from the department of business administration, elaborated on the nine building blocks of the Business Model Canvas, including key partners, value propositions, customer segments, and revenue streams. The interactive workshop enabled participants to apply the concepts to real-life business scenarios, sparking creativity and critical thinking.The workshop was specifically conducted to prepare students for an upcoming competition, where they are required to develop and present their own Business Model Canvas ideas.HOD of commerce Mrs. Premalatha K, Convenor of commerce association Mr.Parveen D, IIC president Mrs. Geetha Poornima K, Faculty members, along with enthusiastic students from the commerce stream, actively participated in the session. The program concluded with an interactive session, followed by a vote of thanks.
