St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur, in collaboration with the Vidhyamatha Foundation, hosted an insightful workshop on “Competitive Examinations and Private Employment Opportunities” at the PG Seminar Hall. The event aimed to empower students with essential information, strategies, and motivation to pursue government and private sector careers.
The workshop was presided over by the Vice Principal of the College, Dr Vijay Kumar Moleyar, who addressed the gathering with a compelling message on the importance of competitive examinations in shaping the future of today’s youth. He urged students to adopt a focused and disciplined approach towards preparation, emphasizing that success in such exams could open doors to prestigious government employment.
The keynote session was delivered by Mr Bhagyesh Rai, founder of the Vidhyamatha Foundation, Puttur. Drawing from his expertise, Mr Rai offered students comprehensive guidance on a wide spectrum of career paths, including government positions and private employment opportunities. He also shared practical tips and training methodologies for competitive examinations effectively.
