St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

The Department of Business Administration, St Philomena College (Autonomous), Puttur, marked a significant milestone with the formal inauguration of the Management Association and the conduct of a one-day workshop on the theme “Future-Ready Leadership” at the SJM Hall on Thursday.
The event aimed to ignite leadership potential among students and equip them with contemporary insights to pilot the ever-evolving corporate landscape. A ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the chief guest, Dr Habeeb U. R. Rahman, Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the MBA Program at Kingdom University, Bahrain, and an esteemed alumnus of the College, served a symbolic gesture marking the dawn of a new academic venture.
In his presidential address, Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, Principal of the College, emphasized the relevance of cultivating leadership qualities in today’s competitive world. He highlighted the value of such associations in fostering academic excellence, enhancing soft skills, and promoting collaborative learning. He congratulated the Department for its proactive initiative in hosting the workshop and creating meaningful learning platforms for students.
The thought-provoking and motivational address by Dr Habeeb U. R. Rahman, chief guest for the day inspired the young minds to envision leadership beyond conventional paradigms and embrace global perspectives.
Dr Radhakrishna Gowda V., Dean and Head of the Department of Business Administration, delivered a compelling address, reiterating the their commitment to holistic student development and interdisciplinary engagement. Mrs Pushpa N., Convenor of the Management Association, along with Mr Likith of II BBA, Secretary of the Association, were also present on the dais.
The event witnessed active participation from faculty members Mr Prashanth Rai, Mr Abhishek Suvarna, Ms Sinchana, and Ms Shruthi Rai, whose concerted efforts contributed to the seamless conduct of the programme.
Ms Priya of II BBA welcomed the gathering, Ms Dechamma of III BBA, President of the Management Association, proposed the vote of thanks. The event was compered by Mr Rakshith of III BBA.
