St Philomena College was founded by Msgr Antony Patrao who felt that a College in this part of the state would save the people of the inconvenience of moving to distant places for higher education. He set out to realize his dream and the mission was accomplished in the year 1958.
Since its inception, the Institute has lived up to societal expectations, turning out consistent and appreciable results in academic and non-academic fields. The institution does attempt to treat the primary stakeholders in 5 UG programs and 5 PG programs with a rewarding educational experience.

The Youth Red Cross of St Philomena College, Puttur, organized an impactful orientation program for its volunteers. The event was inaugurated with a tribute to Jean Henry Dunant, the founder of the Red Cross and the first recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, with the garlanding of his portrait.
In his presidential address, Principal Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro emphasized the need for students to embrace values beyond academic achievement. He highlighted that integrity, respect, perseverance, and compassion are the pillars of a meaningful life, reminding volunteers that the essence of education lies in the cultivation of humanity.
Resorce person of the day, Mrs Sushma Crasta, Assistant Professor in the Department of English, provided valuable insights into the history, objectives, and activities of the Youth Red Cross. Her words helped deepen the understanding of the mission of the Youth Red Cross Organisation.
Dr Dimple Jenifer Fernandes announced the list of interns, who were then recognized for their contributions. The program began with a prayer led by Manasa and her team, Rumaiz of II BCA extended a warm welcome. Harshitha Lobo of II BSc proposed vote of thanks, and Nifana Mol of II BSc compered the event.
